Whipping up novel date night ideas can be challenging. Whether it’s to spice things up in your marriage, or in the hopes of igniting a beginning spark, we’ve got a few ideas for you. We may not be a dating website—but we sure have creativity to share.

Fieldtripps are experiences that allow you to immerse yourself in something new. Now isn’t that something you’d like to share with your significant other?

1. Hit the kitchen and learn how to bake together.

Instead of going out to dinner, why not learn to bake something together? We’ve got a number of fieldtripps dedicated to teaching individuals to whip up their own meals or how to make interesting food. We’ve offer workshops on pasta making, italian pastries, bratwurst sausage, plant-based cookies, breads, and so much more. Rather than spending money on a meal you’re not sure you’ll like, take a bet on your ability to produce something you’ve never done before.

The Art of Italian Pastry: Cannoli & Baba is a two and a half hour class taught by award winning pastry chef Emiddio Isernia. Each of you will fall in love with captivating stories of Southern Italy as well as the mouth-watering taste of authentic Italian pastries.

2. Use your creative juices and craft something together

 

Arts and crafts is a popular category for our fieldtripps. We’ve got hosts of all sorts at our disposal willing to teach you a thing or two about what they’re passionate about. These include homemade candles, soapmaking, frame-weaving, and other interesting choices for your time.

Play with Clay is a two hour private class for two taught by potter, James Kemp in his studio in East Vancouver. Each of you will come home with a homemade mug or bowl that you and your lover will look back on, on your 50th wedding anniversary.

3. Unleash your artistic side and create beautiful art pieces

Studies have proven that making art results in reductions in stress and anxiety while increasing feelings of positivity.

Ensure the happiness of your date by taking a Learn to Paint Workshop on June 16th. While immersed in the joy of painting, you can share charcuterie and cheese tasting plates—with some fine wine too! Getting your canvas wet has never been so romantic!

4. Make something sweet

This is another category of dating that may interest you. Some fieldtripps teach you practical things—something you can do for the rest of your life! For example, fermenting and drying organic food!

Rooted Nutrition’s Food Preservation workshop will transform your beautiful, organic fruits and vegetables into equally beautiful and tasty treats. When you’re finished, you can go home and pair these tasty fruits with equally tasty hugs and kisses. True sweets with your sweetie!

5. Collect healthy herbs

Nothing says, “I love you!” quite like extending your years together. While it’s great to be in the moment, it’s equally great to be thinking about your future.

Within a short walk, Urban Foraging and Salve Making will have you both harvesting medical plants. Metis herbalist and educator Lori Snyder will teach you about the art of plant infused medical salve made with beeswax. When you’re done, you can bring home your own jar of salve!
